After sold-out residencies in Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, Boston, Las Vegas and Philadelphia, the pop-up phenomenon HAPPY PLACE – dubbed ‘the world’s most Instagrammable exhibit’ – will open its vibrant doors to Auckland on Saturday, April 17 at Spark Arena for a strictly limited season. On a mission to spread happiness around the world, the innovative experience has helped more than one million people “find their happy” while exploring multiple interactive rooms. HAPPY PLACE travels to New Zealand following a hugely successful run in Sydney, Australia.

Featuring larger-than-life whimsical installations and multi-sensory immersive rooms, visitors can get snap-happy in the world’s largest indoor Confetti Dome, a giant rainbow complete with a jumpable ‘Pot of Happiness’, six-foot-tall X’s and O’s surrounded by red lips, the famed Rubber Ducky Bathtub, the wildly popular Cookie Room scented with the aroma of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, an Upside Down room that defies gravity, and Super Bloom, a room filled with 40,000 golden handmade flowers, to name just a few of the photo-friendly spaces - HAPPY PLACE is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. HAPPY PLACE New Zealand will also unveil unique features with a very Kiwi twist.

The inspiration behind HAPPY PLACE came from its founder, veteran American entertainment manager and live event producer Jared Paul, whose client roster ranges from New Kids on the Block to Lea Michele and Sabrina Carpenter. Paul also produces tours for “Dancing with the Stars” and was behind the hit arena shows for “Glee.” On a mission to raise his three children surrounded by positivity and joy and at a time when he saw so many challenging and divisive events happening around the globe, he wanted HAPPY PLACE to provide an oasis for people of all ages and backgrounds to come together and embrace moments of happiness in their everyday lives.

Jared Paul said: “We founded HAPPY PLACE on the simple idea that the world could use a lot more happiness, and after seeing the joy it brought people in America, we knew the experience was something special. Since then, we have made it our mission to inspire more smiles and laughter by providing a momentary escape, but we never dreamed we’d be able to bring a little bit of happiness all the way to New Zealand. We can’t wait for you all to experience HAPPY PLACE.”

Brendan Hines, General Manager, Spark Arena commented, “Spark Arena has a proud heritage of bringing the best entertainment to New Zealand and is pleased to partner with such an innovative and unique experience. HAPPY PLACE has brought joy to hundreds of thousands of guests across the USA and Canada, in partnership with Spark we’re thrilled to bring the pop-up phenomenon to New Zealand for the first time.”

Hundreds of thousands of guests visited the very first HAPPY PLACE in Los Angeles, with famous fans including Adele, Kourtney Kardashian, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Kerry Washington, Olivia Wilde, Hilary Duff, JoJo Siwa, Travis Barker, Jason Sudeikis and Sarah Michelle Gellar posing up a storm across the 20,000 square feet of happy.

The HAPPY PLACE experience is carefully managed from start to finish to ensure a limited number of people can move through the exhibit at any given time, and enjoy the experience to its fullest.

Outside of the rooms, guests can enjoy the HAPPY PLACE Lemonade Stand, benefiting local charities, a specially curated retail store, and a delicious culinary menu featuring a variety of tasty Instagrammable items.

Local marine scientist and TV presenter, Dr. Riley Elliott, has been announced as host for Blue Planet II Live in Concert, ahead of the highly anticipated upcoming Auckland shows. Presented by BBC Studios, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra (APO) and Auckland Live, Blue Planett II Live in Concert will take place on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th April, at the Kiri Te Kanawa Theatre, Aotea Centre.

Respected marine biologist, Riley Elliott has dedicated his life to the conservation of the ocean’s most formidable predator, the shark. His passion for sharks has seen him author a book, give a TEDX Talk, and film countless Shark Week shows for Discovery Channel, including a new 6 part series called Shark School. A go-to commentator on sharks in Aotearoa New Zealand, it’s Elliott’s mission to educate the public on the often-misunderstood species.

Riley Elliott says, “It is an absolute privilege to narrate this incredible event. The words and imagery of the BBC and David Attenborough are what inspired me to become a scientist of the natural world. It taught me the recipe of public communication of science using stimulating visual imagery. To do this now, on their stage, is a dream come true, but ultimately I hope it will engage the public, create awareness of our natural world and the struggles it faces, and ultimately inspire positive change and conservation, for nature and for ourselves.”

BBC Studios’ Acting Head of Live Entertainment Australia and New Zealand Louise Hill, says: “With his passion for the natural world, Riley is the perfect fit to take audiences on a journey through this amazing visual and musical experience, which combines awe-inspiring footage from the acclaimed Blue Planet II with the spectacular music score performed by the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra.

Following the incredible success of the BAFTA-winning BBC Studios natural history series Blue Planet II, Blue Planet II Live in Concert will bring the wonders and mysteries of the planets ocean's and its characterful inhabitants to the stage. Accompanied by the original immersive television music score by Bleeding Fingers Music, composed by Hans Zimmer, Jacob Shea and David Fleming, the concert will be performed live by APO, and conducted by David Kay.

During the filming of the Blue Planet II television programme, film crews embarked on 125 expeditions in 39 countries, and spent over 6,000 hours of deep-sea diving armed with the latest state of the art filming and recording equipment.

A fantastical journey from icy polar seas to pulsating coral reefs, from the luminous deep sea to enormous kelp forests: take a deep breath and immerse yourself in a whole new world hidden beneath the surface of the sea.
