NOW CASTING: Lead Publicist – Screen (Auckland - Full Time)
818 is on the hunt for a sharp, strategic, and socially-savvy publicist to join our high-energy, high-impact team. If you’re a publicist with at least 3 years of experience under your belt, a love for storytelling, live and breath the latest TV and film releases, and are not afraid to try different genres – this is your breakout role.
WHO ARE WE?
818 is one of Aotearoa’s leading publicity agencies, repping the who’s who of entertainment. Our screen division proudly works with clients from global streaming giants to local legends and cult-fave indies. We work across some of the most exciting screen titles hitting your feed, your screens and your group chats. Think red carpets, premiere buzz, and building campaigns that cut through the noise.
Our team is a vibrant mix of creatives, strategists, and communicators who back each other, laugh often, and seriously love what we do. We’re collaborative, curious, and always pushing to do better work – and have a damn good time doing it.
THE ROLE!
Strategist-in-the-making: Contribute to the creative direction of campaigns and help spot clever opportunities to increase reach – whether that’s through media, influencers, premiere events or unexpected PR stunts.
Publicity powerhouse: You’ll plan, pitch, and deliver full-scale PR campaigns, write media releases and Q&As, chaperone talent at interviews, coordinate press shoots, update media kits, learn the ropes of Unit Publicity, build relationships, and even help run the occasional red-hot activation.
Collaborative to the core: You’re proactive, resourceful, and always ready to pitch in – whether it’s brainstorming a fresh angle, wrangling a last-minute shoot, or helping with team logistics.
Tactically brilliant: You will respond to media in real-time, organise RSVPs, create and run social calendars and keep your campaign reporting sharp and your client updates even sharper.
What will you bring in your tool kit? You will arrive with a passion for screen content, strong writing skills, top-tier organisation and relationship-building skills, and the confidence to take the reins across a range of impactful and exciting Screen PR Projects.
WHY YOU’LL LOVE IT HERE:
● Work on the biggest screen titles in town – from buzzy debuts to binge-worthy blockbusters.
● A collaborative culture that genuinely backs you.
● Leadership that supports growth, ambition, and creative risks.
● Launches, screenings, premieres… this job comes with stories you’ll actually want to tell your mates about.
