We understand that a project's strongest ambassadors are often created during the production process. That's why we work closely with filmmakers and production teams from the earliest stages, creating publicity opportunities, generating premium content assets and building relationships that support a successful launch.

Our team has extensive experience across feature film, television, documentary and streaming projects, delivering campaigns that resonate with both industry and consumer audiences.

Our services include:

  • Unit publicity

  • On-set media visits and journalist management

  • Electronic Press Kit (EPK) production

  • Production notes and publicity materials

  • Media relations and release campaigns

  • Influencer and content creator engagement

  • Premiere and screening event management

  • Talent tours

818 manages all aspects of on-set publicity, including briefing and overseeing stills photographers, coordinating media access, producing EPKs and creating professional publicity materials for domestic and international use.

Our understanding of the production process allows us to identify opportunities early, build media support during filming and create a strong foundation for release campaigns.

The team also coordinates and manages talent tours for high-profile local and international screen talent, including accommodation, travel, transfers, schedules, interviews, hospitality and bespoke experiences, ensuring every detail is delivered to the highest standard.

Recent projects include the success of Kiwi box office hits Tinā and Pike River, unit publicity support for God Bless You Mr Kopu for Velvet Moss and When Darkness Loves Us for Te Pō. The 818 team has also delivered publicity campaigns for some of New Zealand's most successful and acclaimed screen productions, including Hunt for the Wilderpeople, New Zealand's highest-grossing local film, alongside Savage, Cousins, The Breaker Upperers, Tickled and many more.

818 is also the local agency for major streaming platforms Prime Video and NBCU (Hayu & Bravo).

This depth of experience gives our clients confidence that we understand how to build momentum, create cultural conversation and connect screen stories with audiences both in Aotearoa and beyond.

Behind the scenes of Tinā, 2025

NZ FILM

818 has worked across some of Aotearoa’s most successful and significant screen productions, delivering publicity across theatrical, local and festival releases. Our work spans unit publicity during production, trailer and release campaigns, talent tours and major premiere events, with each campaign built around the unique story of the project and its filmmakers. Recent highlights include Miki Magasiva’s Tinā, which became Aotearoa’s fifth most successful film of all time, managing the publicity campaign for the original release and 10th anniversary 4k release of Taika Waititi’s Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Other recent work includes the Pike River’s premiere in Greymouth, documentary-drama Sgt. Haane and the sold-out Whānau Mārama: New Zealand International Film Festival premiere of Big Girls Don’t Cry.

Suzy Cato, You and Me

SUZY CATO YOU & ME

818 worked with Suzy Cato on her return to screen in 2026, using the 28-year gap since the original You & Me to reconnect a generation of parents with the much-loved series while introducing Suzy to a new generation of children. The campaign tapped into wider conversations around screen time, childhood and shared family experiences, combining traditional publicity across news, lifestyle, culture and entertainment media with influencer engagement. Key moments included the announcement of the show's return, the release of its iconic theme song and a programme of interviews across print, digital, radio and podcast. The campaign reached more than 30 million people through traditional and non-traditional media, with episodes released so far generating more than 657,000 YouTube views.

The Five Star Weekend premiere, Hayu

STREAMERS

818 works with leading global streaming platforms including NBCUniversal’s Hayu and Bravo, and Amazon MGM’s Prime Video, connecting New Zealand audiences with international film and television content through strategic local publicity. For Hayu, 818 supported the 2026 relaunch of its expanded scripted film and television offering, generating more than 20 million reach across 300 pieces of traditional and non-traditional media coverage. Our work as NZ’s Prime Video local agency officially began in June with an in-market event for the global premiere of Elle, alongside ongoing publicity, talent interviews and programming announcements. Across July alone, the Prime Video campaign generated 212 pieces of coverage across 47 titles, demonstrating the value of locally tailored communications for global entertainment platforms.
