This will be Niall’s first time back in New Zealand after bringing his sold-out Flicker world tour to Aotearoa in 2018.

Tickets to ‘THE SHOW’ LIVE ON TOUR will go on sale to the general public at 10.00am (local time) on Friday 2 June from Ticketmaster.

Thrilled to be including New Zealand on his worldwide tour, Niall says, “I have said it many times, but I do mean it when I say that the times I have spent down under are some of the best periods of my life… I have had amazing shows in Australia and New Zealand, and I cannot wait to be back in 2024. My favourite thing in the world is being on tour. Performing my songs for my fans and sharing those incredible moments together are the reason why I write music in the first place. This is going to be my best tour yet and I cannot wait to see all you “lovers” in 2024.”

A deeply felt meditation on everything from mental health to the infinite complexity and uncertainty of love, The Show is an endlessly spellbinding statement on following your heart to its absolute truth. As he gears up to share his most personal material yet in a truly extraordinary career, Niall is particularly eager to return to the stage.

“There’s nothing better than watching the crowd sing back to you with all that emotion on their faces and knowing that they’re attaching the song to something meaningful in their own lives,” says Niall Horan. “To me, that’s always the greatest thing that can ever come from songwriting.”

TEG CEO Geoff Jones says, “TEG is delighted to be bringing Niall Horan out to New Zealand in 2024. We know his fans have been waiting since 2018 for these shows, and we're thrilled that it's finally coming to life. Niall is a masterclass entertainer with incredible stage presence, so there’s no doubt this tour will include many magic moments for fans.”

Originally from Mullingar, Ireland, Horan has sold over 80 million records and toured the globe multiple times as part of the iconic One Direction. His full-length solo debut Flicker entered the Billboard 200 at No. 1 in October 2017 and contained the 8 x ARIA Platinum single Slow Hands and 4 x ARIA Platinum This Town. The album hit the top 10 in 20 countries total and charted #2 on the Australian ARIA charts. With combined global streams surpassing eight billion, Flicker has gone Platinum in five countries (including the U.S.) and Gold in additional seven countries.  Heartbreak Weather followed in 2020 and topped the UK’s Official Albums chart and Billboard’s Top Album Sales tally and came in at #2 on the ARIA charts.

The album The Show will feature the already released singles Heaven and Meltdown. Across Australia and New Zealand, both singles are soaring with over 6.8 million combined streams across all platforms.

THE WAR ON DRUGS ANNOUNCE FIRST NEW ZEALAND TOUR SINCE 2018 WITH SPECIAL GUESTS SPOON + INDIGO SPARKE

May 22, 2023 818

Live Nation is thrilled to announce the return of The War On Drugs to New Zealand for the first time since 2018. With special guests Spoon, plus Indigo Sparke, the band will tour the North Island in December 2023 in support of I Don’t Live Here Anymore, praised by GQ as “the band’s clearest, most vibrant, and upbeat.”

Presented in partnership with Radio Hauraki and 95bFM, tickets for all shows go on sale at 1pm NZT from livenation.co.nz with the Live Nation members presale beginning at 12pm, Thursday May 25 until 12pm, Friday.

Throughout the tour, The War On Drugs will play two of New Zealand’s finest venues, including Wellington’s Anderson Park, and Auckland’s Spark Arena.

Led by Adam Granduciel, the GRAMMY-Award winning band has steadily emerged as one of this century’s great rock and roll synthesists, removing the gaps between the underground and the mainstream, between the obtuse and the anthemic, making records that wrestle a fractured past into a unified and engrossing present. The New Yorker called them “the best American ‘rock’ band of this decade” in support of 2017’s A Deeper Understanding while Stereogum hailed The War On Drugs as “one of the greatest American bands of their generation” following the release of I Don’t Live Here Anymore. It landed on numerous 2021 best albums of the year lists and garnered a second GRAMMY Award nomination (Best Rock Song) and BRIT Award nomination.

Throughout their career, The War On Drugs has steadily evolved into one of rock’s most compelling live acts. “It’s hard to imagine a musical experience that’s more enveloping and uplifting” (Consequence).

Joining The War On Drugs for the tour will be one of rock's most acclaimed acts, Spoon. Austin’s most esteemed rock ambassadors have released ten albums to date, including a string of five straight top 10 records: Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga (2007), Transference (2010), They Want My Soul (2014), Hot Thoughts (2017), and Lucifer on the Sofa (2022). Hailed by TIME as “one of the greatest American rock bands”, Spoon topped Metacritic’s chart as the single most critically acclaimed band of the aughts.

Last here in 2017, Spoon will tour both countries for the first time since the release of their Grammy nominated tenth album ‘Lucifer On The Sofa’. More than two decades into their career, Spoon returned with this loud, low-down, melodious rock record which The Guardian called ‘Timeless Perfection’ and Rolling Stone said, ‘Might Be Spoon’s Best Record Ever’.

Opening for all shows will be Australian singer songwriter Indigo Sparke.

TRAILER UNVEILED FOR FEEL GOOD KIWI FILM ‘RED, WHITE & BRASS’ FEATURING A STELLAR ENSEMBLE OF TONGAN TALENT

February 2, 2023 818

From the producers of The Breaker Upperers, Cousins and Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Red, White & Brass is the debut feature film for director Damon Fepulea’i who co-wrote with co-producer Halaifonua (Nua) Finau. The film stars John-Paul Foliaki (Popstars), Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi (The Panthers), Ilaisaane Green (Brutal Lives), Onetoto Ikavuka, Mikey Falesiu (Toke), Lupeti Finau, Lotima Pome'e (Under the Vines), and Haanz Fa'avae-Jackson (Savage).

Tongans are renowned for their enthusiastic support of their sporting teams; decorating their cars, houses and faces with the Tongan flag. Inspired by a true story, Red, White & Brass showcases this māfana energy. The underdog story follows a community of Tongans who form a brass band as the pre-game entertainment in a desperate attempt to get tickets to the 2011 Rugby World Cup Tonga vs France game.

“The māfana energy in the film is infectious,” says Fepulea’i. “I can’t wait for Kiwis to see this film on 23rd March, and what's possible when you band together for a common goal.”

Finau was in the original band that performed at the Rugby World Cup in 2011. He is excited to see the Tongan community represented authentically on the big screen.

“Ever since we shot the film my DM’s have been full with people asking when they can see the film,” says Nua. “Kainga, the wait is over! Hope you enjoy this sneak peak!!”

This whole-hearted and fun film was shot in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Wellington and will be released in Aotearoa to New Zealand audiences on Thursday 23 March 2023 before its international release.

Red, White & Brass is a Piki Films and Miss Conception production produced by Georgina Conder, Morgan Waru, Halaifonua Finau and executive produced by Carthew Neal, Ainsley Gardiner and Taika Waititi. The film has funding from the New Zealand Film Commission, the New Zealand Government’s Screen Production Grant and Screen Production Recovery Fund, NZ on Air, Warner Bros. Discovery ANZ, Angel Investors Marlborough, Department of Post and Kiwibank. The film is distributed in New Zealand & Australia by Madman, Piki Films and M2S1 Films.

ENDEAVOUR LIVE, BREAKOUT & GEORGE FM PRESENTS WILKINSON COGNITION NEW ZEALAND TOUR 2023

January 25, 2023 818

WILKINSON will make his long-awaited return to New Zealand, bringing Kiwi fans a first taste of his new critically acclaimed arena show and celebrating the highest selling drum & bass album of 2022 and his fourth studio album, COGNITION.

Off the back of his record setting New Zealand tour in 2021, Wilkinson returns to his official “second home” with the stunning and cinematic audio experience, COGNITION, hitting Wellington’s TSB Arena on Thursday May 4 and Christchurch Arena on Friday, May 5. The following week, the award winning British producer will take his high energy DJ set down to Dunedin’s Union Hall on Thursday, May 11, before signing off the tour with arena performances in Auckland and Hamilton. The Auckland show will be his debut Spark Arena show on Friday May 12, finishing off with GLOBOX Arena, Claudelands in Hamilton on Saturday, May 13.

One of the leading names in dance music, WILKINSON has cemented himself as one of the most influential names in dance music history. After 10 years at the top of the game and headlining festivals around the world, he shows no sign of stopping as he returns to Aotearoa to tour his acclaimed fourth studio album COGNITION.

Collaborating on COGNITION with artists close to him including a rekindling with the unstoppable Becky Hill on “Here For You”, his partner Iiola on the euphoric “Close Your Eyes” and powerhouses Kanine & Clementine Douglas on “No One Else”, he’s achieved one of drum & bass’ holy grails: a fully dancefloor-aimed album that never dips in tempo or diverts away from D&B, yet never crosses over into the classic ‘collection of bangers’ sensation so many D&B albums end up as.

At points it’s gentle, emotional and sincere, but it’s also riddled with a vibe that ensures all tunes will work on the dancefloor and vitality that won him the scene’s affection in the first place. Showing no signs of stopping either, we are elated to be bringing WILKINSON back to his second home.

Supporting WILKINSON on his arena tour is UK Drum and Bass producer DISRUPTA and local support from PORIS across the tour.

Undoubtedly one of the most promising up and coming figures in the drum & bass genre, DISRUPTA, 23, has been quick to establish his own unique and versatile sound. With chart topping music on notable labels such as Hospital Records, V Recordings, UKF and of course, Sleepless, he is gaining boundless recognition for his work by some of the biggest names in the scene. Having won 'Best Breakthrough DJ' at the Drum & Bass Awards 2021, Disrupta is fast becoming a headline act with a long career ahead of him both on stage and in the studio.

PORIS has swiftly established a reputation as a highly accomplished DJ, recognised in the top 3 best DJs in New Zealand at the 2021 Georgies. PORIS (actual name Paris), who made her debut in early 2020, has since been on tour practically nonstop. She has already performed on the big stages at New Zealand’s top festivals, and the bulk of the most infamous venues in New Zealand.

MONTELL2099 SHARES SPINE-CHILLING DJ SET, LIVE FROM THE REMARKABLES ICE LAKE IN AOTEAROA NEW ZEALAND

December 9, 2022 818

Following Montell2099’s immersive 2020 short film, Live from Karekare, which saw one of the  West Coast’s most rugged coastlines become the visionary electronic producer’s stage, Montell2099 has shared a new surreal follow-up short film, Live From Lake Alta in The Remarkables.

Alongside the film's release, a limited edition t-shirt will be for sale, with all profits going towards Kea Conservation, a partner of The Remarkables and Ngāi Tahu.

The same way he showcases Aotearoa New Zealand on the world stage through his music, the mesmerizing thirty minute visual finds Montell2099 leaning proudly into his heritage, revealing more of the countries inimitable scenery breathtaking views, and nature as his extravagant arena, from one of the most stunning and serene locations the world has to offer.

“The visual element of my music is super important,” says Montell. “And in a live setting the visuals are almost as important as the musical delivery. With my DJ sets I spend an incredible amount of time curating the journey - every drop has a purpose, and every breakdown moment is there for a reason. I always want to tell a story and take the audience on a musical journey and adding the visual element to this makes it more effective and helps immerse the audience into the world that we’ve created for them.”

Live From Lake Alta finds Montell2099’s exhilarating electronic frequencies set against the chilling atmosphere of icy mountain ranges, golden hour sunset scenery sloping into brooding nightfall, and isolated snowfield surroundings, captured from a bird's eye view.

Warming up the minus zero degree temperature with his scorching bass lines, slapping percussion, animated ad-libs, and exhilarating drops over a series of previously released singles, remixes, as well as teasing a series of brand new unreleased material, Montell2099’s goose-bump inducing set mesmerizes from a triangular lighting installation designed by world-renowned lighting and stage design wizards Human Person (Drake, Travis Scott, Billie Eilish), who previously worked on Montell2099’s Live From Karekare short film and live festival sets, alongside local Dunedin show designer Jade Fraser, Below Studios, Tom Tom Productions, and Higher Ground.

“One of the biggest takeaways from our first shoot in Karekare was how the intense environment really leant itself to Montell’s music, so as his new music evolves into a heavier place, we wanted to find a location that was even more extreme, and a mountain in the middle winter felt like the perfect fit,” says Ben Dalgleish from Human Person, the creative team behind the production design and lighting design of the shoot.

Continuing to take his music and live show to even grander heights, Live From Lake Alta is another showcase of Montell2099’s art transcending conventionality and pushing the limits of the traditional live show experience.

A nod to Montell’s vision and creativity, the breathtaking video is being hosted on Trap Nation’s Youtube channel, a global hub for the best in electronic music - sporting over 30 million subscribers and counting.

My Live Nation members can secure tickets during the exclusive presale beginning at 11am, Thursday November 17.

For complete tour, ticket and VIP experience information, visit: livenation.co.nz

As one of the most innovative vocal groups of all time, Pentatonix reimagine and redefine a cappella. Since emerging in 2011, the three-time GRAMMY® Award-winning and Daytime EMMY® Award-nominated vocal quintet — Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kirstin Maldonado, Kevin Olusola, and Matt Sallee — have reached unprecedented heights, topping charts, selling 10 million albums worldwide, generating billions of streams, and performing all over the world.

Their catalog boasts back-to-back #1 albums on the Billboard 200, namely the gold-certified Pentatonix and platinum-certified A Pentatonix Christmas. The albums have performed internationally with five albums ranking in the top 40 albums six times in New Zealand. Their single Hallelujah was met with international acclaim as a platinum-certified single in Canada and gold-certified in Germany and Switzerland. They notably made history as “the first a cappella act to win ‘Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella’ at the GRAMMY® Awards” in 2015 and 2016. A year later, they earned another GRAMMY® Award in the category “Best Country Duo/Group Performance” for their duet with Dolly Parton on her song Jolene.

Pentatonix most recently released their sixth holiday album, Holidays Around The World, via RCA Records, featuring the single Prayers For This World and Kid on Christmas with Meghan Trainor. The record consists of stunning renditions of seasonal staples as well as show-stopping original international collaborations, living up to the promise of its title and speaking to audiences around the globe.

Pentatonix will premiere Pentatonix: Around the World for the Holidays, streaming exclusively on Disney+ on December 2. The group, already having attracted 26 million viewers during their previous nationally televised programs, are back on the screen in this groundbreaking cinematic music experience. The special utilizes pioneering XR and AR Visual Technologies to tell a different holiday tale highlighted by a heartfelt script, riveting acting, and, of course, heavenly performances. It follows the group as they seek inspiration for their annual holiday LP after their manager accidentally locks them in an enchanted mailroom. THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED: 50TH ANNIVERSARY “AMERICAN PIE” NEW ZEALAND TOUR

November 7, 2022 818

Grammy-Award honouree, Songwriters Hall of Fame member, and BBC Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Don McLean will be bringing his American Pie 50th Anniversary Tour to New Zealand in 2023. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of one of the most iconic songs and album ever this year, McLean will entertain fans across the country, proving that “bye-bye, Miss American Pie” will forever remain a classic staple in music.

“I am thrilled to be getting back to New Zealand with my band,” says Don McLean. “2022 marks the 50th anniversary from when American Pie landed at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard chart, and we will be celebrating.  We’ll be performing songs from the American Pie album plus many of the other hits that fans will be expecting to hear.”

As tragic as the backstory behind the song "American Pie" is with the much too early death of the new rock’n’roll-hope Buddy Holly, the track is also magnificent and legendary. And “American Pie” still goes to heart as soon as originator Don McLean plays this classic at his concerts. Still, it’s worth remembering that the 76-year-old composer has written and sung numerous other melodic and harmonic successes in his decades-long career with “Vincent (Starry Starry Night),” “Castles in the Air,” “And I Love You So,” and “Cryin’,” all of which will be heard and reveled in along with newer pieces on the upcoming tour.  Earlier this year in March, McLean celebrated the 50th Anniversary of ‘Vincent (Starry, Starry Night)” by releasing an intimate performance that was recorded at the Immersive VanGogh Exhibit.

The eight-and-a-half-minute ballad “American Pie” has been making history since its release in 1971. Alongside songs by other icons such as Bing Crosby, Judy Garland, Woody Guthrie, and Aretha Franklin, McLean’s composition was also voted “Song of the 20th Century”. Handwritten lyrics to the song were auctioned off for more than $1.2 million in 2015, and the composition was added to the Library Of Congress National Recording Registry two years later. Here, you’ll only find a few selected evergreens, such as “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”. So much for the cultural significance of Don McLean and his 1971 stroke of genius!

Over the years, the song has been covered again and again by music icons like Madonna and Garth Brooks. Rapper Drake repeatedly sampled McLean tunes and hip-hop icon Tupac Shakur also cited him as an important influence.

Accordingly, the complete discography of the legendary and still active singer/songwriter is also significant. Among other things, Don McLean has a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and was inducted into the National Academy of Popular Music Songwriters’ Hall Of Fame in 2004.

And he never gets tired of writing new songs and new stories. In 2018, the sound senior released his 19th studio album, ‘Botanical Gardens’ which received rave reviews. Songs from it subsequently proved themselves live and will maybe even find their way into the setlist next year, alongside “American Pie” and all the other feats from this decades-spanning and unparalleled composition and performance career.

November 6, 2022 818

Cirque du Soleil’s CRYSTAL – A Breakthrough Ice Experience
announces its New Zealand debut for a strictly limited season!

Featuring seven traditional circus acts including Trapeze, Banquine, Pendular Poles and Aerial Straps – all on ice!

Cirque du Soleil’s CRYSTAL – a one-of-a-kind production that brings the circus arts to the ice for the very first time premieres in Christchurch on Friday 16th June at Horncastle Arena. This spectacular show will travel nationally from Christchurch to finish at Auckland’s Spark Arena in July. Tickets will go on sale to the general public from Wednesday 16th November 2022.

In addition to seven of the gravity-defying traditional circus disciplines, the production also features traditional figure skating and extreme skating – two disciplines that have never been seen before in a Cirque du Soleil production.

Thrilling more than 1.8 million people worldwide since its creation in 2017, CRYSTAL blends the art of skating with adrenaline-inducing acrobatics and aerial feats. The show takes audiences on a whimsical journey into a vivid and imaginary world where up is down, left is right, and nothing is as it seems.

“CRYSTAL is a show full of “firsts” for Cirque du Soleil, and it has really helped shift our perspective on the interesting ways that the circus arts continue to evolve,” says Robert Tannion, CRYSTAL’s Artistic Director.

“The performance itself is all about perspective – how we see ourselves is a direct reflection of how we see the world. It’s a magical story that springs to life on the ice and we can’t wait to bring it to New Zealand in 2023.”

Geoff Jones, TEG CEO said, "It's no secret that Australians love Cirque Du Soleil. We are thrilled to continue our long standing relationship with this incredible organisation.  It’s a privilege to work with such a talented group of people who embrace boundless creativity. We know Aussie fans will be blown away by Crystal. This show is everything that you love about Cirque Du Soleil and so much more.  We look forward to bringing Crystal to Australia and know it will create beautiful memories for those who are lucky enough to see it”.

JIM STEINMAN’S 'BAT OUT OF HELL' TO PLAY SPARK ARENA THIS JANUARY

November 2, 2022 818

★★★★★ DAILY EXPRESS

★★★★★  ‘LOUD, EXHILARATING AND BLOWS YOUR SOCKS OFF’ - THE INDEPENDENT

GUARANTEED TO TAP INTO EVERY PLAYGOER’S INNER ROCK GOD - THE NEW YORK TIMES

The producers of Jim Steinman’s Bat Out of Hell, featuring Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf’s greatest hits, are delighted to announce this musical rock spectacular will play two special one off shows at Spark Arena on Sunday 22nd January 2023.

Direct from an international tour of Europe, Bat Out of Hell has wowed critics and public alike when it played seasons at Manchester Opera House, London Coliseum and London’s Dominion Theatre. The musical also ran successfully in Canada, Germany and at New York’s City Centre and continues to have a residency at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino.

Bat Out of Hell won the Radio 2 Audience Award for Best Musical at the Evening Standard Awards and was nominated for 8 WhatsOnStage Awards, including Best New Musical. It was announced in October 2022 that Bat Out of Hell was the UK’s biggest debut album and one of the best-selling albums in history, selling over 60 million copies worldwide. 16 years after the release of the original album Steinman scored again with Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell, which contained the massive hit I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That).

In this stage musical, the legendary and award-winning Jim Steinman has incorporated iconic songs from the Bat Out of Hell albums, including You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth (Hot Summer Night), Bat Out of Hell, I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That) and Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad, as well as two previously unreleased songs, What Part of My Body Hurts the Most and Not Allowed to Love.

Across two spectacular, high energy acts, the show tells the story of the Lost Boys and Girls who flee into the tunnels below the city from its ruler Falco. When his teenage daughter Raven locks eyes with fearless leader of the Lost, the immortal Strat, the immensity of their love-at-first-sight-obsessions threaten to destroy both of their families.

The International Tour of Bat Out of Hell has book, music and lyrics by Jim Steinman, direction by Jay Scheib, with musical supervision and additional arrangements by Michael Reed, choreography adapted by Xena Gusthart, set and costume design by Jon Bausor, original costume designs by Meentje Nielsen, original wig designs by Linda McKnight, video design by Finn Ross, lighting design by Patrick Woodroffe, sound design by Gareth Owen, orchestrations by Steve Sidwell, original casting by David Grindrod CDG and International Tour casting by Anne Vosser.

Bat Out of Hell is produced by David Sonenberg, Michael Cohl & Tony Smith, with executive producer Julian Stoneman.

Presale tickets are on sale from Thursday 3rd November at 12pm with general tickets on sale from Friday 4th November at 9am at TEGDainty.com.

This tour is dedicated to the memory of Jim Steinman, who sadly passed away on 19 April 2021, and Meat Loaf, who passed away on 20 January 2022.
