818 are on the hunt for a Publicist to grow our busy team working on Aotearoa’s biggest and most exciting entertainment projects.

818 is one of New Zealand’s leading entertainment publicity and social-partner agencies. In this role you will manage publicity campaigns across our Film, TV and Live Event portfolio. The role will include pitching and executing PR campaigns with local and international talent, working with the team on campaign strategy as well as facilitation of press runs, local events, influencer engagement and media gifting. You will be a strong writer and communicator as well as a confident multitasker with the ability to juggle various projects and timelines.

We are a small but busy team who thrive on the quality and prestige of the products we work on. In the last year alone we have ran the publicity on NZ’s biggest local film (Muru) and documentary (Mister Organ) as well as hit TV shows such as Dancing with the Stars, The Block and live events such as Laneway and Rhythm and Vines as well as tours with Urzila Carlson, Pax Assadi and Groove Armada.

PUBLICIST JOB DESCRIPTION:

  KEY SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

 ·      Be hungry to be a key and active part of the local entertainment industry.

·      Be a great writer with exceptional accuracy in spelling and grammar.

·      Be a confident multitasker with the ability to juggle various projects and timelines.

·      Have a strong attention to detail and a willingness to be involved in all facets of the business.

KEY TASKS:

·      Create and execute strategic and engaging PR campaigns across a range of mediums including pitching and executing interviews, written pieces and briefing talent.

·      Work with key entertainment talent and creatives, including chaperoning.

·      Build and maintain exceptional professional relationships with media, talent and key creatives.

·      Create engaging and articulate written publicity and press materials (press notes, press releases, written pitches etc.)

·      Coordinate and manage the gathering and creation of press deliverables including photo shoots, EPK interviews and Q&A interviews.

·      Manage the creation and execution of PR events including managing contractors and budgets.

·      Manage the creation of smart and engaging conversation calendars for key projects and manage the execution of these campaigns across a range of platforms including community management when needed.

·      Take the lead on PR events and activations including briefing casual and full time staff.

·      Manage the updating and upkeep of the 818 website.

·      Assist in managing an up to date media contacts list.

·      Additional administrative duties as required.
