Pōneke-based artist Nikau Te Huki, known to audiences as Casual Healing, returns with his latest single ‘Moving Together’, continuing his mission to create music that forges deep connections between people, spirit, and the natural world.
For over a decade, Nikau has been weaving intimacy, connection, and emotional intelligence into his artistry. His solo project Casual Healing made a stunning debut with the 2024 album DRIFTWOOD, which led to sold-out tours and standout performances at SXSW Sydney, Rhythm & Vines, TSB Festival of Lights and more.
Now redefining his creative path in 2025, Casual Healing is releasing a series of four EPs inspired by Te Taiao – the natural world. Each chapter embodies one of the four elements: AHI (fire), HAU (wind), WAI (water), and ONE (earth). The first two releases (AHI in April and HAU in July) have been met with acclaim for their originality and raw honesty. The forthcoming EPs WAI (September 26) and ONE(December 12) will complete this ambitious cycle.
‘Moving Together’ was inspired by Nikau’s long term partnership with his best friend and baby-mama, and the love they’ve worked so hard to nurture. Journeying far beyond the honey-moon stages, Moving Together is an anthem for those willing to make true love work. The Sonic detail of this track captures a fusion of Neo-Soul and RnB. The signature Nylon String Guitar creates an earthy undertone while silky lead vocals transport the listener to the depths of earnest devotion.
“After 8 years and two children, I can honestly say we’ve seen the best and worst in each other - but we chose to stay and grow together. That's true love; that's what this song is about.”
With its textural richness and heartfelt storytelling, ‘Moving Together’ reflects the Casual Healing ethos of letting music become a meeting point — a space where differences dissolve, and people can feel their common humanity.
